About Velaa Beach
The beachfront Velaa Beach Hotel is on the Maldivian island of Hulhumale. Male International Airport is a 10-minute speedboat trip from Hulhumale’s Ferry Terminal. The simply furnished rooms at the Velaa Beach include views to the sea, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, telephone and iron/board. They are en-suite and complimentary towels and toiletries are provided. Rooms are serviced daily. Airport transfers can be arranged and additional hotel services include luggage storage, laundry, assistance with excursions and the hiring of equipment for fishing, canoeing, windsurfing and snorkelling. BBQ facilities are also provided and the hotel restaurant specialises in western favourites as well as local dishes. Green Mart is a neighbouring supermarket and there are a number of restaurants within walking distance. The hotel is a popular base for beach loving guests, in addition to those who wish to embark on excursions and explore the nearby city of Male.

Great Velaa value.
The hotel will hire you all the equipment you need and help you arrange local excursions. Everything is great value. Check out the alternatives, they aren't as cheap as this. Do you know a hotel manager who will let you on his private boat for trips? Didn't think so! But there is one here and the trip is fantastic. Everything is great - even the Wi-Fi!

Time for a picnic ... island.
To experience the truly unspoilt beauty of the Maldives, you need to go to a picnic island … secluded beaches and fantastic snorkelling. Kuda Bandos is just one of these beauties and if you don't know where to start, the hotel manager and members of staff can't wait to help you out.

Plumbing the depths.
There's a strange smell in the bedroom ... and it isn't the sea air!

Service isn't on the menu.
Staff members are a bit inconsistent and what you order in the restaurant, isn't necessarily what will be served … after quite a long delay. There's a great place next door though! Breakfast, it has to be said, isn't everyone's ‘cup of tea' and can be described as being cold and unappetizing. You can, though, wander around the local shopping centre and pick up snacks to suit your taste.

The hotel lacks atmosphere. Hardly surprising as it's been cobbled together from what use to be a four-floor apartment block. Facilities are really quite minimal.
