Daiwa Roynet Hotel Osaka Yotsubashi (Osaka, Japan)

The room is spacious and the inclusion of a bath tub is a welcome plus. Rooms are spotlessly clean and kept that way as part of the daily cleaning routine. Wi-Fi works well. Value for money is excellent.

Members of staff are very pleasant, welcoming and helpful. Most speak English. A couple of nice touches include a welcome free coffee at check-in and a ladies kit for the bathroom. Other toiletries are also complimentary. Breakfast is OK with a good choice range to suit Eastern and Western preferences.

This is a reasonably quiet location. It's also a good place for easy access to both businesses and tourist attractions. You can walk to Dotonbori and JR Namba stations, or just go via the subway. There are lots of places to eat in the near vicinity; many are open till almost dawn. A good and cheap alternative to the OK hotel breakfast is five minutes away and comes in the form of sushi rolls from Family Mart.

The walk from Yotsubashi is OK, just as long as you aren't carrying luggage; in which case it's something of an arduous trek. Plus, quite often, there's no escalator at the subway stations! The hotel isn't easy to find, first time round, either.

They've tried to think of everything but, in doing so, they've missed out on some blindingly obvious needs. For instance, the shower hose and head are of fairly cheap and nasty quality. Even worse, it's non-adjustable. Didn't expect that.

The extract fan in the bathroom is small and has minimal, if any, effect. A small but vitally important feature!
