Most guests arrive by car, and are very pleased that there is ample parking available. It was just one less thing to have to worry about.
Perhaps the most common complaint, many guests describe the décor in the rooms as dated and very much in need of an update. Guests don't feel that it is charmingly retro, rather that the owners are delaying an update unnecessarily. Taken together with some maintenance issues they noticed, many guests didn't feel the rooms were in good shape.
Another surprisingly common complaint was that the showers do not work properly. Either the water flow is too low, the temperature is too cool, or more typically both. It seems to have something to do with the number of people showering at once. When this typically happens of a morning the hotels plumbing is unable to cope.
This is a debatable point, since food reviews are almost invariably mixed, but there does seem to be something of an impression forming that the food quality at the restaurant, once very highly regarded, has started to slip. At the very least it seems it is inconsistent.
