Marlborough House has been referred to as a home away from home and guests often get to know the owners on a first name basis. Reception is efficient and guests have appreciated being offered a drink on check in on hot days. The owners are knowledgeable about the local area and are able to give recommendations of places to visit.
Although many previous guests have found the hosts warm, friendly and welcoming there have been a handful of reviews commenting on the surly and abrasive manner of one of the hosts. Although a small bed and breakfast this has led to customers feeling uncomfortable.
The bathrooms in the hotel seem past their best and are now looking out-dated. It is also felt that the standards of cleanliness could be improved in the bathrooms.
One review has commented on the temperature of the rooms as they were unable to adjust the radiator and the duvet was very thick. When opening windows this then led to a draft blowing through the room.
