Situated barely 100 yards from the public square of the same name, Plaza Espana Apartments offers guests sleek and modern self catering accommodation close to public transportation. The apartments have been recently renovated and are now ultra-modern. They feature fully equipped kitchens, and lounge and dining areas as well. They each have flat screen TV’s, and Wi-Fi is provided free of charge. These are apartment rentals, rather than an apart-hotel, and there are no real public facilities in the building, but the agents will be happy to assist guests with local information. There are no restaurants on-site, but those not self-catering will not be short of great dining options. There are some in the immediate neighbourhood, but a much wider selection in the neighbourhoods a bit to the east. Casa Felipa Plaza Espana are a bit to the west of Barcelona’s centre. Gaudi’s magnificent Sagrda Familia is about 2.7 miles away.
Even if they didn't use them to the full, guests were pleasantly surprised that the kitchens really were fully equipped. They felt that they were good for much more than just to make a cup of tea and a toasted sandwich.
While the location was described as being a little outside Barcelona's main tourist drag, guests mentioned that there were two metro stations very close to the apartments. They felt they could easily get anywhere in the city they really wanted to go in no time at all.
The building the apartments are in is described as old, and looking a bit tired, but guests were quite happy with the layout and décor of the apartments, saying that they were modern and contained everything they were looking for from a rented apartment.
There were a fair number of complaints about the noise level at night. The apartments are on a busy road, and it does not seem any soundproofing measures have been taken. As a result, many had there sleep disturbed by the sound of cars zooming by.
While guests liked the proximity to the metro stations, they paid for this by having the building vibrate a little each time a metro train passed underneath.
Though not mentioned often, it is the case that check-in is at another location, and some felt that the absence of any sort of permanent staff meant that they were left to their own devices in what was, for some, a strange city.
