About Glenborrodale Castle
Set in a commanding position in the West Highlands, Glenborrodle is a Baronial castle offering elegant accommodation to guests looking to live lie a Baron or Baroness for a time.
There are just 16 rooms, all of which feature magnificent views across the estate. They do NOT feature flat screen TV’s, sound systems or other technology since guests tend to come to Glenborrodale to escape these things. They are nonetheless supremely comfortable.
The castle is well known for its meticulously tended garden, and the head gardener is approachable and a wealth of information concerning the estate. There’s even a hobbit house for the kids to explore.
The restaurant makes use of the very best Scottish ingredients to create innovative dishes to please their diners.
Guests often spend time exploring the estate, and taking part in activities like clay pigeon shooting. There is a lovely coastal road running along Loch Sunart, starting about five miles from the castle.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Precisely what a castle should be like
Clearly, many guests staying at Gelenborrodale came in with some preconceptions about exactly how life in a castle should look and feel. Going by their comments, it seems as if they were actually shocked that reality was quite a lot like their fantasies - except perhaps in the question of coldness and draughtiness, notorious castle stereotypes. Guests were glad to report that they were toasty at all times.
positive:
Excellent food in the restaurant
It was very difficult to find any poor reviews of the food. The castle makes a point of procuring the best Scottish meat, game fish and produce possible, and according to the guests the castle's chefs have made good use of these to create dishes that really impress.
positive:
Spectacular views from every room
Again and again guests mention the incredible views over the estate from their rooms. Some even mention that their bathroom had a spectacular view. With the commanding views over the countryside (and potential attackers) guests are left in no doubt as to why the original builders built were they did.
