Hotel Guy's Thatched Hamlet (Garstang, United Kingdom)

Though not all rooms face the canal, guests in the ones that do report being very happy with the view. Not only was it tranquil, but of course there was the odd bit of action when a narrow boat passed by.

Unlike many walk in showers, which often have the habit of flooding the bathroom floor, guests report that the ones in the executive rooms at Guys Thatched Hamlet work well. No reports of floor flooding could be found. Also mentioned were the spa baths, also in the executive rooms, which guests found very relaxing.

Although a few guests experienced some problems with their rooms, cleanliness did not seem to be one of them. Again and again guests commented that their rooms were spotless when they first checked in.

While perhaps this must mean that the food was good, several guests nonetheless reported that the two restaurants on site were exceptionally busy when they went to have dinner there. The wait for a table was long, and in general they didn't seem to like the crowded rooms and atmosphere.

While it seems as if most of the rooms have been updated, there are still some older rooms. Guests in these rooms seemed quite unhappy with their state, calling them “tired”, and very much in need of a major renovation.

It seems that even Guys couldn't escape the bad hotel Wi-Fi curse. Several guests complained that it was so slow to use, it really wasn't worth trying in the first place, since the frustration felt would outweigh any possible benefit.
