Positive Reviews
positive:
A warm welcome to Reading...
The front desk staff have earned many positive reviews for friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient customer service. Guests also appreciate that the staff are available 24-hours. The complimentary coffee and kids' toys in the lobby contribute to the overall pleasant atmosphere, too.
positive:
New and improved decor...
Though the property is older, the interior has recently been renovated to suit the hotel brand, and the new, modern decor is generally considered a great improvement. The reasonably speedy free Wi-Fi is also much appreciated.
positive:
Walking distance to city centre...
Though the hotel's immediate neighbourhood isn't the "prettiest," it is easily accessed from the highway and not too far from Reading city centre; guests report the walk into town takes 20-30 minutes, and a taxi trip home is quick and inexpensive. There's also a bus stop out front, with a 24-hour service.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Not the traditional English breakfast...
Though some guests are pleased with the free continental breakfast, the majority of diners seem to prefer a full cooked breakfast and consequently find the spread quite disappointing. Concerns have been raised about the freshness and quality of the items as well.
negative:
Third party parking...
Drivers generally dislike paying an additional fee to a third party for parking, and note that some areas are poorly lit. Free street parking is available in the area.
negative:
Luck of the draw...
While some guests report a quiet night, others have reported difficulty sleeping due to poor sound insulation between rooms as well as inconsiderately noisy guests. Housekeeping seems to be a little hit and miss as well. Many also struggle to find something to watch, as the television channels are quite limited.
