Positive Reviews
positive:
Friendly and helpful staff
It seems that La Cuesta's staff really made an impression on guests during their stay. They were said to be very welcoming and friendly, with several guest mentioning ways that they clearly went above and beyond the call of duty to help them with an issue they had.
positive:
Decent central location
Aside from the staff, it was the location that guests most appreciated. It seems many were visiting California Polytechnic University, and found they could drive there in just a couple of minutes. Those heading to downtown San Luis Obispo also felt that the hotel was well placed for easy access.
positive:
Nice pool area
While, surprisingly, not mentioned very often, those guests who did bring it up really appreciated the on-site pool. They seemed to feel it gave them the opportunity to relax in the sunshine, or cool down at the end of a long hot day.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Breakfast not a hit
It was very hard to find a good word written about the continental breakfast offered. Most guests said that, while there certainly was enough quantity, their simply wasn't enough variety to construct a decent breakfast for even one day, let alone if staying for several days.
negative:
Questions about value for money
Quite a number of guests mentioned that they felt their room-rate was too high. While they conceded that San Luis Obispo was one of the more expensive cities in which to find a room, they couldn't quite shake the feeling that they had overpaid.
negative:
Noise from the nearby freeway
This was perhaps the most common complaint. The hotel is right by the 101 freeway, and guests said that the rooms were not well soundproofed. As a result the noise of the cars going by did disturb them, especially at night.
