About La Quinta by Wyndham Garland Harbor Point
With its reliable chain hotel style accommodation, La Quinta by Wyndham Garland Harbor Point offers great amenities suitable for both business and leisure travelers.
The rooms are simply decorated, but very well equipped. Each features conveniences such as microwave, minibar and coffee maker as well as more high tech amenities like large “smart” TV’s and fast Wi-Fi.
There’s an indoor pool, open all year, that many guests are sure to enjoy, but also a spa and fitness center for those with other interests. Motorists will find plenty of free parking and business people that there is a dedicated center for their use.
While the breakfast offered at the hotel is a simple continental affair, guests will not be short of nearby dining options when it comes to the other two meals. The China Café serves simple Asian dishes and comes highly recommended.
Downtown Houston is 15 miles away along the I-30.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Friendly staff a credit to the hotel
While comments on great staff in general are fairly common in hotel reviews, an extraordinary number of guests in this case went one step further by naming individual staff members who they felt went far beyond the call of duty in assisting them.
positive:
Comfy beds
While there weren't a tremendous number of guests saying that the beds were great, there were certainly far more than those finding them uncomfortable. It seems that the mattress selected by the hotel is unusual in that it has very broad appeal - a remarkably unusual achievement given the variation in tastes.
positive:
Nicely decorated rooms
While the rooms are fairly simple, they are certainly not spartan. A couple of guests found that the rooms were very cozy. Not in the sense that they thought them small, but rather that the décor created a warm and familiar feeling.
Negative Reviews
negative:
A bit of noise from the I-30
The hotel is exceptionally close to the I-30. Guests with rooms facing the highway felt that their rooms were not sufficiently soundproofed to block out the noise. The result was often a fitful night and difficulty getting to sleep.
negative:
Some issues with rooms assignments
While, unfortunately, this is not at all uncommon at hotels, a couple of guests complained that they booked a particular room way ahead of time, and received confirmation from the hotel, only to be told on arrival that there were no more rooms of that type remaining. Naturally, guests felt that the hotel should have kept its side of the bargain and not given their room to someone else for operational reasons.
negative:
Breakfast not a hit
It seems that most guests found the continental style breakfast a bit too simple for their tastes. They would have preferred a bit more variety.
