Situated in a fantastic beachfront location, Las Américas Torre del Mar is a grand resort property offering modern accommodation and an incredible array of leisure amenities. The rooms are nothing if not sleek and modern, with gleaming tile floors and stylish décor. They also feature all you’ll need for a great stay, including air conditioning and flat screen TV’s. Most have private balconies with awesome sea views. Las Américas Torre del Mar shares an incredible variety of resort facilities with its sister hotel on the same site. These include everything from tennis courts to a spectacular pool terrace with nine pools. There are four restaurants and nine bars onsite, that range from a casual poolside café to elegant dining under the auspices of Michelin starred chefs. The main attraction, aside form the resort itself, had to be the beach, which is quite literally just steps away. Those heading into Cartagena’s Old Town will find it just 3.5 miles from Las Américas Torre del Mar.
Guests couldn't stop raving about the resort complex's pools. Not only were they impressed by the sheer number of them, apparently nine in total, but there were many positive comments about the design and atmosphere of each one. The most fervent praise was perhaps reserved for the rooftop infinity pool, which guests said was very stylish and offered great sea views.
An incredible number of guests brought up the point of security, saying that the resort's staff seemed to keep a very tight control of who is allowed on the premises. Security personnel seemed quite visible reassuring guests who may have been concerned abut Cartagena's safety reputation.
Though the reviews of the other two meals were a bit mixed, the overwhelming majority felt that the hotel offered up an excellent breakfast that was just what they needed to start their day.
A number of guests were quite disappointed with the beach immediately in front of the resort. They reported that it did not live up to their dreams of what a tropical beach should be, since the water and sand where a bit dull, rather than the brilliant white and clear blue of their daydreams.
Guests whose business required them to be in central Cartagena seemed to feel they had made a mistake by booking here. They reported that the centre is some distance away, requiring quite a long (and expensive) taxi ride to get there.
Most guests did not seem to think much of the level of customer service offered at the resort. There were very frequent complaints of staff being quite disengaged and not very interested in serving their guests properly.
