Kloosterbar is an elegant venue to enjoy a cocktail, or even light snack, with friends or colleagues. Leuwen is known as a foodie paradise, and there are a number of excellent eateries in the nearby Oude Markt area. The Oude Markt is the social and cultural heart of the city, and is barely 400 yards from Martin’s Klooster. Leuven University, the oldest in the nation, is on the square.
It was undoubtedly the hotel's proximity to the Oude Markt that guests most appreciated. The area was said to be exceptionally charming, with all the cafes, bars and restaurants one could possibly desire at hand. The atmosphere was also judged as quite lively and agreeable on account of the proximity of the massive Leuven University and its students.
Guests really seemed to appreciate the work that was put in to turn the old monastery into what they called a very chic and contemporary hotel. It still seemed to retain some of its historical character, despite having all the convenience they could possibly have desired.
A surprising number of guests mentioned that the hotel's cable package included a very large number of English language stations, for which they were very grateful.
While the hotel certainly doesn't hide the size of its rooms on its marketing materials, in person many guests simply found the smallest to be too small. It was awkward to do much besides sleep in the room.
Though certainly very trendy and stylish, guests seemed to have quite a few problems with the showers. Firstly, they were said to not reach high enough for even average height people to shower properly. Also, the trendy design with no walls meant the bathrooms floor was flooded whenever they took a shower.
A couple of motorists mentioned that, like in many other historical European towns, the parking was very expensive. Also mentioned was that some found the entrance very hard to locate.
