Positive Reviews
positive:
Good choice for budget trips
One of the most appealing features highlighted in reviews of the Neptune hotel is the low room rates. Guests comment that the hotel provides a low priced alternative to anyone who wants to avoid the high prices of hotel rooms in Manhattan.
positive:
Friendly staff
Although it probably goes without saying that you shouldn't expect five-star service here, most guests found the staff at this hotel were friendly and approachable. The front desk staff seem happy enough to help guests out when needed.
positive:
Decent selection of amenities
For a budget hotel, the rooms actually provide a fairly decent selection of amenities. It's worth laying out the extra for a deluxe room if you prefer not to share bathroom facilities although, to be fair, few guests mention encountering any issues using the bathrooms.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Nearby metro lines
While the nearby metro lines provide a quick and easy route into NYC, the associated noise did bother some guests. If you're a light sleeper, packing earplugs is probably a wise move.
negative:
Dingy exterior and dubious neighbourhood
Even those guests who were satisfied with the interior of the hotel weren't all that impressed by the exterior of the property, often describing it as rough looking. The immediate neighbourhood doesn't sound like it's all that much better. Female guests report feeling unsafe to walk around at night.
negative:
Rooms attract mixed feedback
Comments about the rooms at this hotel are something of a mixed bag. According to some guests, they are dirty and have multiple issues. Yet others comment that they don't know what the fuss is about, and specifically say they found their room was clean and comfortable. It sounds like pot luck as to what you'll get.
