Whatever else they thought about the hotel, good or bad, guests certainly couldn't criticise its location. It is described as in the middle of town, and very near the shores of Lake Garda, with many rooms having lovely views over the water.
The hotel has decent spa facilities on-site, which are free for guests to use. It seems many may have booked here specifically because these were available, and going by their reviews they were not disappointed with the facilities or treatments available.
Several guests sad they really appreciated the effort the designers went to to create the rooms. They clearly approved of the choices in décor, and felt that the rooms were very chic and stylish.
It seems that many guests arriving by car were at least a little unhappy. In the first instance they mentioned that it is impossible to reach the hotel by car, and so they had to park in the hotels garage about five minutes walk away. Secondly, even after paying the fee, a spot can't be guaranteed since you are not actually allocated a bay, and they were said to sell more tickets than spots available.
Like many of the properties around Lake Garda, the room-rates at Portici Riva are fairly high. While the question of value for money was not directly addressed by many guests, quite a few mentioned that the rates were higher than they were typically prepared to pay for a hotel room.
Quite a number of guests mentioned asking the reception staff for various forms of help, from typical tourist information to practical issues dealing with the hotel, and getting either no assistance or very grudging assistance.
