The buzz of life within the medina is what makes a trip to Marrakech so special. However it is easy to get sensory overload - especially in the searing heat. This is when guests really appreciate being able to retreat back to the homely riad and relax on its tranquil roof-top terrace.

For many guests the delicious and varied breakfasts are a lovely way to start the day - particularly on the peaceful roof-top terrace.

Finding the riad is quite often an issue. Although you may find this charming during your stay, upon arrival it can be very stressful. Taxis can only go so far, then you're on your own. Well not really. There are many locals who will hassle you, take your bags and show you the way - for a price. Many guests would recommend you organise a transfer directly with the hotel to avoid this.

Some guests - especially female - feel intimidated by the dark alleyways and groups of people hanging around or even following you. Most of the time this is just an initial culture shock and you get used to the unique experience of the medina after a while.

Some guests don't anticipate how far Jamaa El Fna is and think it is further than they had been made to believe. However, there are endless possibilities of getting there and it is inevitable that you'll get lost! For some guests, this is a blessing as the riad is in a calmer area.
