The Hotel Royal is in a remote, idyllic setting with sensational panoramic views over Lake Como and the imposing mountains that surround it. Most of the eight double rooms and the suite have views overlooking the lake from their balconies. They all have free Wi-Fi, safe and flat-screen TV. The Hotel Royal has an outdoor pool, fitness room and plenty of private parking. Guests can dine in the traditional Italian restaurant Chez Mario. Its large sun terrace with a stunning backdrop of Lake Como is a superb setting for a refreshing drink or a sumptuous al-fresco meal in the summer months. Menaggio, one of the lake's principal resorts, is a 15-minute walk or a five minute drive away. From there guests can take a boat-trip or hire a sailing boat. There is a tennis court just 300 metres from the hotel and golf courses within three kilometres.

Guests love this quiet hotel, with terrific views over the lake. You should feel relaxed, whether on the lovely sun terrace in the summer months or around the cosy fireplace in the lounge when the weather is more temperamental.
Guests are delighted to have a cosy, pleasant restaurant on site - saving them the trek into Menaggio. The rave reviews, however, are not just down to its convenience or ambiance, but rather the excellent quality and well-presented Italian food that it serves.
If you haven't got a car you may find it a bit of a steep hike to get the the hotel. According to some guests you may need to allow a good 20-minute walk uphill to get to there from the ferry - not easy when you are weighed down with luggage. For that reason, many guests think it is unsuitable if you don't have a car. That being said, other (maybe more active) guests love the pleasant “10-minute” walk into Menaggio.
Many guests are put out that there is no air-conditioning in their rooms - contrary to what they were expecting. In the summer months when the temperatures get into the 30s this can become unbearable.
Some guests have noise issues. The sound-proofing, at least in certain rooms isn't the best. This may be a particular problem if you are near the reception.
