The rooms were for the most part clean – and what you’d expect from a budget hotel. Guests said that the styling was minimalistic and that the rooms were pretty comfortable and had the basic amenities, toiletries and Wi-Fi.
From the hotel’s location, you can walk to Union Square or Civic Center in a matter of minutes. Also, access to the MUNI and the BART was easy with several stations nearby.
Read before you book, as some of the rooms come with shared bathrooms. This means you’ll be sharing a toilet and shower with the rest of your hall. Some guests complained that the shared bathroom was very dirty. That turned off some people. If you are not comfortable with such an arrangement, you can book a private bathroom for a higher rate.
Guests reported seeing lots of homeless people in the neighborhood as well as unstable people who were screaming and making lots of noise during the night. While guests said this could be a local issue, and not particularly a specific issue for the hotel, it didn’t make for a comfortable ambiance. Some guests said although the neighborhood can be squalid, that it’s not something the hotel could be expected to fix.
Don’t expect too much peace and quiet. Visitors complained of other guests who they assumed were people down on their luck, looking for a cheap place to stay. Guests complained that it would get noisy and a strong smell of pot.
