Oh, Mr. Porter! ...great staff: day and night.
Everyone is very friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to make sure you are happy. A special word is due to the night porter who will assist with breakfast if you have an early start and before everyone else gets up.
positive:
Clean and comfortable rooms.
Rooms are attractive and well cleaned and maintained. There are a few rough edges but, for the most part, this is a super hotel in a fantastic location.
positive:
The location takes a lot of beating.
Virtually mid-way between York and Scarborough, you can get to both in about half an hour. Then you've got the dramatic North York Moors, Goathland, Whitby and seriously pretty villages such as Thornton-le-Dale.
Negative Reviews

Things can go wrong, even here
Some rooms, mainly in the annexe, are dated and quite dreary. The view over the car park doesn't help matters. Poor décor, messy walls and a useless TV remote … can all serve to make this place less than perfect. Any time when you are placed in an annexe, you feel as if you are being short changed. No exception here.

It all comes down to money and value.
Breakfast service is slow and they miss things. OK elsewhere but it's too highly priced for what is provided.

If you're thinking of dining in, beware
f they've got a function on, there will be no evening food available (!!) and the ever helpful staff will try to shunt you off as nicely as possible to another restaurant. That's not what you paid for.
