Interesting and well-appointed rooms.
Taking their inspiration from local history, each of the rooms at the Southernhay House are named after the key historical trades of the area. All rooms are individually decorated with antique furnishings to provide a unique and interesting experience. En-suite bathrooms feature rain showers and limestone finishes.

Original approach to dining.
The hotel offers a more original approach to dining with a buffet continental breakfast in the morning, including a variety of fruits, yoghurts, cereals and pastries. A unique Club Menu is available from midday through to early evening and consists of a variety of light meals which guests can enjoy with a drink from the bar. Dinners consist of an ever-changing menu selection dictated by what is available locally in any given season.

Negative Reviews
negative:
Plenty of stairs but no lift.
Perhaps surprisingly the hotel does not feature a lift on the property and guests must use stairs to access rooms above ground level. This can become difficult for travellers with heavy luggage, small children or physical impairments.
negative:
Beautiful rooms with no wardrobes.
While each room has been carefully and deliberately designed and decorated with plenty of modern conveniences, there are, curiously, no wardrobes provided in the rooms for hanging clothes.
negative:
Not all rooms are the same.
Some rooms at the hotel are very small and compact, with just the basics while others are larger and feature seating areas and more floor space. A thorough enquiry before booking is recommended to ensure that the right sort of room is booked.
