Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site (Flat Rock, USA)
The Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site in Flat Rock consists of 254 acres of what was the Sandburg farm in western North Carolina. Sandburg (1878-1967) was a poet, biographer, folklorist, and editor whose works collectively sought to explore what it meant to be an American. The site includes the home Sandburg shared with his wife and family, the goat dairy operated by Mrs. Sandburg, a picnic area, and five miles of trails. The park is open the year-round, and admission the grounds is free. Fees are charged to tour the Sandburg home–$5 for adults, $3 for seniors, free for children 15 or under.
