New York's Village Halloween Parade (New York, USA)

The New York’s Village Halloween Parade was founded in 1973 by a puppeteer and mask maker from Greenwich Village. First nothing else but a walk from door to door within the neighbourhood of its founder the parade quickly gained recognition and popularity and is today the largest public Halloween celebration in the United States. The parade runs Sixth Avenue at Spring to 22nd streets and features thousands of floats, bands and dance groups and is visited annually by around 2 million people. Several other events, including parties and costume contests, are also being held during the festival.
