and welcoming, adding a personal touch to the guests' experience and working
hard to help where they can.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Building is in disrepair
Although it is quite a charming old building, the hotel lately has been allowed to become run down and could use plenty of maintenance and basic cleaning to improve its appearance and preserve the building's old charm.
negative:
Bar can get quite noisy
Being in an area near a university, the bar gets busy on
some nights mainly with students so guests staying in rooms just above or
adjacent to the bar may well experience noise until late. There are also a
number of pubs in the nearby area so to avoid noise from outside, request a
room on a higher floor.
negative:
Rooms a little outdated
The furniture and fittings in the guest rooms generally look
as though they've seen better days and could do with replacing or repair. The
standard of cleaning could also be improved- there seems to be little attention
to detail paid in terms of cleaning the carpets and bathroom tiles, fixing
cracks in plaster or tiles, etc.
