Positive Reviews
positive:
An ideal base to explore the Peak District.
It is just a 15 minute drive to Sheffield and is in an ideal location to explore local attractions such as Castleton and Bakewell. The accommodation is also dog friendly which is perfect as there are some wonderful walks straight from the door. A bus also stops directly outside the property which is an added convenience.
positive:
Staff are friendly to you, and your dogs.
The staff are very helpful and will go out of their way to ensure that you are happy and have everything you need when you stay. This includes being very friendly to dogs who are also staying and nothing being too much trouble for them.
positive:
Traditional food in the bar.
The traditional bar menu and the quality of the produce is really good. Special mention is also given to the breakfast offered which is described as hearty and substantial. The chef has even gone out of his way to cook sausages for dogs.
Negative Reviews
negative:
The road can be noisy.
At times the road is noisy, but the location dictates this and it is not the fault of the hotel. Double glazed windows would be beneficial to prevent noise in the future.
negative:
No duvets, just blankets.
Duvets would be a better and more hygienic alternative to the sheets and blankets which are currently on beds and which also make them look quite old fashioned.
negative:
Some areas are looking tatty.
The décor is starting to look tired and a bit shabby in places, particularly in the bar area, and it could do with an update or a bit of a tidy up.
