The Bear is found on the edge of the historic spa city of Bath, a 15-minute minute walk from central attractions like The Roman Baths and Bath Abbey. Its boutique rooms have a retro aesthetic including animal hide rugs and Alexandra Park is just a few blocks away. Each of the seven rooms are en-suite with plasma-screen TVs, Duck Island toiletries, duck down and feather duvets and pillows, free Wi-Fi and tea & coffee trays. Complimentary on-site parking is available, late check-outs can be arranged and The Bear can be booked exclusively for weddings and other events. The British breakfast, lunch and dinner menus are changed every month, Sunday roasts with all the trimmings are served and the bar serves ales, regional ciders and a wide wine selection. Royal Crescent is 1.4 miles away from the hotel and the Bath Golf Club 1.8 miles.

Guests found the rooms to be of generous size, stylish and generally clean and some considered them to offer a competitive price for the expensive Bath hotel market.
While many people were happy to walk downtown to the attractions of Bath, for the rest there were also buses leaving from just outside and the short taxi ride fare is not unreasonable.
A handful of guests were not overly impressed with the boutique rooms above the pub, with a small number considering the decor sparse and a little run down for their liking.
You can expect to hear some noise, given the fairly busy road just outside, but at the time of writing in mid-2015 it appeared windows were due be updated to double-glazing. Otherwise, a few guests reported hearing other people due to noisy floorboards, b
