Hotel Arno (Milan, Italy)

The location is very handily close to Central Station. Can't fault the cleanliness. Bathrooms are spotless and rooms are cleaned every day.

Staff members are very friendly and keen to help the visitor find their way around this fascinating city.

Accommodation is, let's be honest, basic. But it is clean and the location couldn't be better. The lift is, well … uplifting ... and essential to reach the 4th floor location! Beds are comfortable.

There is a noise problem. The building is old and the walls are thin so, in this type of location, noise is an expected problem. The neighbourhood, generally, is somewhat shady so there is an air of unease combined with noise factors originating from inside and outside the property. The severe vibration from passing traffic is something that the locals have got used to over a period of time. For the visitor, though, it is another obstacle in the desire for a good night's sleep.

There are some notable glitches in the cleaning processes. Strange hairs on the bedding and a lack of dedication in the application of cleaning procedures mean that you begin to scratch in anticipation of problems that are yet to unfold.

There is a smell in the room + it's not that smell of success! Something wrong with drains? Beds are very uncomfortable and a lick of paint throughout would work wonders. The lift is ultra tiny so if you don't know the other passengers when you enter ... you surely will when you reach this 4th floor hotel..
