Positive Reviews
positive:
Neat and tidy.
Accommodation wasn't the newest on the block, but it was found to be exceptionally clean. This hotel was the recipient of a housekeeping award in 2015, and guests could see why. Other nice features were lots of space to spread out, and windows that opened for breathing in the fresh mountain air. And if you're lucky, you might even get a mountain view.
positive:
A friendly feel.
The majority of guests had great interactions with staff. The concierge was especially knowledgeable and friendly, and staff seemed to do their best to provide a pleasant stay.
positive:
Bring your furry friend.
Many guests appreciated the pet-friendly policy of Irwins Mountain Inn. There were plenty of places nearby to take a dog for a walk, and hotel staff were found to be very welcoming to guests of the four-legged variety. If you can't bare to leave your best friend at home, look no further than this hotel.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Could be noisy to some.
Noise from other guests was a problem at times. Guests partaking in Banff's plentiful nightlife were sometimes a little inconsiderate to fellow visitors. There was also a frequent train whistle, which was charming to some, but bothersome to others.
negative:
Older decor.
This charming little property was built in 1967, and as such, some rooms had a layout more reminiscent of days gone by. Some furnishings were also found to be dated, but most still thought that rooms were comfortable.
negative:
Internet not up to speed.
Wi-Fi proved to be a bit fussy here. While it seems that the hotel makes every effort to ensure speedy Internet access, some guests were still disappointed with a slow connection.
