The hotel itself and rooms in particular, are nicely decorated and quite relaxing. Beds are very comfortable.

Surprisingly, given this town centre location, the hotel is remarkably quiet - so a good night's sleep is on the cards … in those rooms that are away from the front of the building! The location is good and come the evening, it's a pleasant stroll to neighbouring pubs and restaurants.

When little things go wrong in the room, staff members are quick off the mark to sort out the problem. The food is very good here and the restaurant staff members, too, deserve huge commendation for their friendly, efficiency and impressive service.

The parking area is across the road and up a hill which is ‘clogged up' with other parked vehicles. Maneuvering through all this leads you to muddy surrounding surfaces. All in all, parking is precisely the nightmare you can do without after a long journey.

They are OK decoratively, but don't live up to the publicity. There's no proper shelf in the en-suite to put toothbrushes and things like that. Wi-Fi is dodgy. Stairs are narrow and steep and there's no lift. If you are at the front, the double glazing has little effect on the noise coming from the street.

If you get a coffee machine, you have to work out how to use it. A kettle would be better. There are no teas or coffees in the room. A refrigerator? Don't be silly!
