    Originating from the Toronto Industrial Exhibition held in 1879, the Canadian National Exhibition has grown to be one of the largest North American fairs and is the largest fair in Canada with an attendance of approximately 1.3 million visitors. The fair is held over an 18-day period each August and ends on Labour Day. Events include a selection of sports and entertainment options, art displays, food and shopping facilities, an air show, live performances, parades and amusement rides. The permanent premises of Exhibition Place cover an area of 196.6 acres which is extended to include various parking areas during the Canadian National Exhibition and then encompasses 260 acres. The grounds include historical buildings such as the The Scadding Cabin and also house the Fort Rouillé Monument and Shrine Peace Memorial.
