Historic Route 66 Tour Chicago (Chicago, USA)
The Historic Route 66, also known as the “Mother Road” or “Will Rogers Highway” was established on November 11th 1926 and is one of the original US highways. Originally it ran from Chicago (Illinois) over Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona to California, where it ended in Los Angeles, encompassing a total of 2,448 miles. The Route 66 was an important path for migrants on their way west and in 1985 it was regarded as not relevant anymore and replaced by the Interstate Highway System. The original Route 66 has undergone many changes and realignments but the Historic Route 66 Tour follows the original outlay as close as possible. While the terminus of the tour can be found at the address given, the start point can be found at Adams Street at Michigan Avenue.
