Catcleugh Reservoir (Byrness, United Kingdom)

Built at the beginning of the 20th century Catcleugh Reservior lies in the heart of the Border Forest within the Northumberland National Park. It was constructed between 1899 and 1905 and is fed by the River Rede. The reservoir is easily accessible from the A68 trunk road which follows its eastern shore for over 5 km. This area is a popular destination for water sport enthusiasts and it is the home of the Catcleugh Sailing Club. It is also popular with birdwatchers, walkers and anglers. Access to the area is free but visitors must keep to the designated footpaths at all times.
