Lake District Visitor Centre at Brockhole (Windermere, United Kingdom)
Situated by the main road overlooking the lake midway between the towns of Windermere and Ambleside the Lake District Visitor Centre at Brockhole has a range of outdoor and indoor activities available for all ages. The house, which is run by the Lake District National Park Authority, contains an information centre, exhibitions and slideshows of the Lake District, a theatre and classrooms for students and children. Outside are 30 acres of terraced gardens with trees, shrubs, rhododendrons and azeleas and an adventure playground. Boat trips across the lake to Ambleside run from the jetty. There is a gift shop and cafe. The grounds and gardens are open all year. The house is open from the Spring to the end of October. There are facilities for disabled access. Admission free. There are charges for the boat trip
