Edinburgh Zoo dates back to 1913 and is owned by the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland and was originally known as the Scottish National Zoological Park. Many of the species are endangered and the zoo has a program that promotes the conservation of these threatened creatures. Edinburgh Zoo is open daily from 9am throughout the year (including Christmas Day), closing times vary during the year from between 4.30pm and 6pm. Admission prices for adults are £14.00 (18 Euros) and £9.50 (11 Euros) for children aged 3-15.
